Zero-X by Copson Data was introduced in 1995. It was designed for the Atari Falcon, but does run on all Atari TOS computers from 1998. It is a Sample Editor, capable of handling 16-bit stereo samples of up to 48 kHz. Notable features include the ability of transferring samples via SCSI, MIDI Sample Dump conforming to the SDS standard, Akai SCSI D2D (Zero-X 2 only, introduced in 1998) and Beatsplit. Oher than SCSI D2D, D2D sampling functions, as you would expect, are reserved for the Atari Falcon only. There were reportedly a few versions of Zero-X:

  • 68000 for all Atari ST/STE/Mega models
  • 68030 for TT and Falcons
  • 68030+68882 for TT and Falcons with co-processors (FPU)
  • Zero-X 2 (for all Atari TOS models)

Overview

  • Name: Zero-X / Zero-X 2
  • Type: D2D Recorder / Sampler / Sample Editor
  • Sample Format: 12 and 16 bits
  • Sample Rate: Up to 48 kHz
  • Sound Quality: Mono / Stereo
  • Hardware ADC: N/A / Atari Falcon Internal and External
  • ADC Connection Type: N/A / DSP Port
