Atari Emulation Table

Name Platform emulated Target platform Description Year

Atari800

  • Atari 800
  • Atari 800XL/130XE
  • Atari 5200

Accelerated Falcon

Continually developed by Atari800 team. There is a need for some rework in source code since it is a long time the last Atari Falcon binary appeared and Petr Stehlik (Atari Falcon port's maintainer) seems to lost interest in building Atari Falcon binaries. There were two versions, one with native 68030 assembly core and one with official "C" language core for emulation. [1]

2007

ATOnce

  • IBM XT/286
  • 386sx (Vortex)

ST/E, Mega STE

Came in the form of card that had to be installed internally, and piggy-backed onto the 68000. Was not very good for playing DOS games, but could run Window 3.0. The 386sx version was called the Vortex

1993?

Apparently emulates at playable speed. Ported by Peter "PeP" [2]

Software emulation, no Lynx add-ons required. Emulates at playable speed on a CT60, results on other systems not tested. Ported by Peter "PeP" from open-source Handy emulator [3]

2007

SMS Plus

  • Sega Master System
  • Sega Gamegear

Accelerated Falcon

Apparently emulates at playable speed. Ported by Peter "PeP" [4]

2007

Spectre GCR

Apple Macintosh Classic

ST. Not Falcon/TT compatible(?)

Came in the form of a cartridge, which contained Mac rom's and some hardware required for compatibility. Was quicker than original Macintosh

1989?

Spectrum Emulator

Spectrum ZX81

All Atari Machines

Complete software emulation, no hardware add-ons required, and almost as fast as an original ZX81. Certainly fast enough to allow the playing of games. Distributed on PP98

Atari 2600

Accelerated Falcon

Software emulation, no 2600 add-ons required. Emulates at playable speed on a CT60, results on other systems not tested. Ported by Peter "PeP" [5]
