A lot of additional software has been mentioned and suggested in this user-guide. Here follows a complete overview of those programs:

 Compression shell

Compress/decompress several formats: ZIP, LZH, ZOO, ARC. Easy to use and replaces many of the more user-unfriendly archive programs such as "ZOO" and "ARC".

(actually, 2-in-1 isn't a compression program, but a user-interface for other such programs. You need to get hold of the various .TTP programs for those formats in order to use it, which is not included with 2-in-1).

....... but the main purpose of Gemini (for most people) is the command-line input which will let you enter text commands such as such as in UNIX or MSDOS. 		Shareware

With an alternative desktop you can also have Kobold replace the existing TOS 2.06 file functions. (with the TOS 2.06 desktop you have to start Kobold each time). 		Commercial

HDdriver is constantly being updated, supporting almost any available hard disk drive (as well as ZIP drives etc.) and is considered the very best hard disk driver for the Atari ST. 		Commercial

<div="t206_iconjuggler">Icon Juggler Icon organizer

Allows you to organize (copy/move/delete/paste) icons for use with TOS 2.xx.
(This is NOT an icon-constructor, just an organizer for adding/deleting icons and saving them as "DESKICON.RSC" files). Only suitable for black/white icons. For colour icons you need to use a resource-editor capable of colour RSC files such as Interface.

Essentially a stripped-down icon-only version of Resource-master.

(the latest version is commercial, while the earlier (less featured) version is free).
<div="t206_nalthelp">N-AltHelp Screen dump utility Replaces the ALT-Help print routine with a screen-dump function.
By pressing the <ALT> and <HELP> keys simultaneously the current screen display is saved as a graphic file (the ".IMG" format), which can be viewed in a graphic program. 		Freeware

Print out ASCII, 1st Word or RTF (Rich Text Format) text files with a variety of options such as as column printing, different fonts, adjustable margins etc.

Originally part of the STinG software package, this CPX module replaces the outdated MODEM.CPX with better performance etc.

Get better reliability from your modem as this adds better modem routines than TOS is able to, and with added hardware circuitry such as RSVE you can even use modern, fast modems above the original 19200 limit of the Atari ST!

<div="t206_autosort">AUTOsort File resorter When you put a program in the AUTO folder it runs in the same order as it was placed there (i.e. the last program placed there runs last). Some programs need to run before certain other programs, and some programs cause problems with other programs if they're not run in a specific order. AUTOsort will let you resort the order of these programs as you wish. Shareware
<div="t206_arrowfix">Arrowfix Fixes the window scrolling bug This little program goes in the AUTO folder and removes a bug where a single mouse-click is sometimes intepreted as two clicks, forcing the window to scroll down two lines instead of one. Freeware
<div="t206_folderxxx">FoldrXXX Increase the OS pool buffer size Fixes part of the "40 folder bug" by increasing the OS pool buffer size.
Rename the program for the desired extra folders (e.g. "FOLDR100.PRG" for 100 extra folders, or "FOLDR200.PRG" for 200 extra folders) and put it in the AUTO folder. 		Freeware
<div="t206_gemram">GEMram TOS relocator TOS contains a few bugs which can't be fixed with simple patches. GEMram goes in the AUTO folder and reads the contents of the TOS chips, then places a copy of it in RAM. Once its there, other programs can modify it to fix things or even enhance TOS with new features. Freeware
<div="t206_shbuf">Shbuf Increases the NEWDESK.INF buffer from 4 Kbytes up to 32 Kbytes.

The NEWDESK.INF file can only contain information not exceeding 4 Kbytes. With Shbuf you can make up to 32 Kbytes available for storing information to this file (rename the file for the desired size such as "SHBUF12.PRG" for 12 Kbytes.
"SHBUF.PRG" with no number defaults to a buffer size of 16 Kbytes).
