SonicDreams developed by Daniel Skaborn and enhanced by Peter Sansom, was introduced sometime in the early 1990s. It is a Sample Editor with a twist, allowing editing purely of the Ensoniq Mirage's parameters via MIDI from your Atari ST. It allows wavetable editing to allow the designing of new sounds, which can be dumped via MIDI to the Mirage. Essentially SonicDreams does not allow the editing of digital audio, but allows editing of sample data via MIDI. SonicDreams is capable of handling the Mirage's 8-bit samples, up to it's Sample Rate of 32 kHz. SonicDreams is the predecessor to SonicDreams II similarly developed for the Mirage, but for the Ubuntu platform.
