SampleMaker
SampleMaker licensed by Virtual Sounds was introduced 1987. It is a Sample Editor with a twist, allowing editing of parameters via MIDI of various samplers, including the Ensoniq Mirage, Akai S900, Sequential Circuits Prophet 2000, E-mu Emax, Ensoniq EPS and Casio FZ-1. Essentially SampleMaker does not allow the editing of digital audio, but allows editing of sample data via MIDI. It was one the very first pure Universal MIDI Sample Editor for the Atari TOS range. It also provides support for the MIDI Sample Dump Standard (SDS). At the top end it is capable of handling the Casio FZ-1's 16-bit samples, up to it's Sample Rate of 36 kHz, however a table of each Sampler and their respective Sample Format and Sample Rates are specified below.
Sampler | Sample Format | Max. Sample Rate |
Ensoniq Mirage | 8 bits | 32 kHz |
Akai S900 | 12 bits | 40 kHz |
Sequential Circuits Prophet 2000 | 12 bits | 42 kHz |
E=mu Emax | 12 bits | 42 kHz |
Ensoniq EPS | 13 bits | 52 kHz |
Casio FZ-1 | 16 bits | 36 kHz |
